ChatMED is where Widening countries step forward.

Bringing together North Macedonia and Serbia with leading AI centers in Slovenia and Austria, ChatMED is not just transferring knowledge, it is turning emerging ecosystems into active drivers of AI in healthcare. The project tackles a key European challenge: how to move Generative AI from research into everyday clinical practice, especially in regions where adoption has been slower.

Through intensive training, real-case experimentation, and deep collaboration, ChatMED empowers researchers, clinicians, and institutions to co-create solutions that work in reality, not just in theory. Large Language Models are explored, tested, and reshaped into tools that can support diagnosis, decision-making, and patient care.

But ChatMED goes beyond technology. It builds confidence, coordination, and leadership in Widening countries, enabling them to shape the future of AI in healthcare, not just follow it. By bridging gaps in expertise and infrastructure, the project helps transform regional potential into visible European impact.
