ChatMED Coordinator Monika Simjanoska Misheva Receives Women in Tech® Macedonia Award at Presidential Ceremony

Skopje, 26 May 2026 — ChatMED coordinator Prof. Dr. Monika Simjanoska Misheva was recognized at the first Women in Tech® Macedonia Awards, held at the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of North Macedonia under the patronage of President Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova.

At the ceremony, President Siljanovska-Davkova presented awards celebrating innovation, leadership and influence in the national IT and innovation ecosystem. The event was organized by Women in Tech® Macedonia in cooperation with the Ministry of Digital Transformation, and introduced national recognition for women, organizations and leaders shaping the future of technology in the country.

Prof. Dr. Simjanoska Misheva was recognized among the award recipients for her role in advancing disruptive technological innovation and visible European impact through ChatMED, the largest EU project of its kind coordinated by Ss. Cyril and Methodius University in Skopje, focused on generative artificial intelligence in healthcare. The Women in Tech® Global coverage described her as an Associate Professor at FINKI, co-founder of iReason, and coordinator of ChatMED, “pioneering generative AI in healthcare to create visible European impact.”

For the ChatMED project, this recognition is more than an individual achievement. It confirms the importance of building strong bridges between research, healthcare, industry and institutions, especially at a time when artificial intelligence is becoming a defining force in the transformation of health systems. ChatMED’s mission is precisely to strengthen the research and innovation capacity for responsible, human-centered and clinically meaningful use of generative AI in medicine.

In her address, President Siljanovska-Davkova emphasized that women should not only participate in technological development, but also take part in defining the rules, priorities and ethical boundaries of the digital world. She also highlighted the need to connect analytics with humanity, knowledge with care, and leadership with empathy — values that strongly resonate with ChatMED’s vision for AI in healthcare.

The award therefore also reflects the collective work of the ChatMED consortium, partners, researchers, clinicians, students and collaborators who are contributing to a new generation of AI-enabled healthcare research in the region and across Europe.

Congratulations to Prof. Dr. Monika Simjanoska Misheva and to the entire ChatMED community on this important recognition.
